Docomo contract expired, yet I have to pay to stop it?

Basically the title, I have paid of my phone and the two year contract has expired. I want to switch to another company but they want me to pay 10k¥ to stop the contract. They claim that after the two year contract a new contract has started automatically, what gives I did not sign any new contract, why should I pay such a large fee for ending this service?

Is there something I can do about this?
