Is the stereotype that Japanese people fake smile but actually dislike you only from foreigners’ experiences? Is it different for Japanese people interacting with other Japanese people?

Yes, stereotypes are bad. Generalizing about large groups of people is bad. But this stereotype does exist.

Basically it claims (likely erroneously) that Japanese people might appear to like you with their smiles and kind words, but secretly they're just hiding their disdain for you.

My question: Is this just the foreigner experience here in Japan? Or do Japanese people treat other Japanese people like this too (if its hypothetically true)?
